WHO IS GRANDMA GENY?

grandma geny reads her book, PROTO to children at the Niagara Gallery in Niagara Falls, Canada. Behind her is the figure of Proto that she created using various recycling and other materials.

Grandma geny Heywood was born in France in 1930. Mother of 4, grandmother of 9, she has always been involved in youth leadership. Having been exposed to all sorts of children, she believes that every child

has a story to tell and is an intellectual waiting to be discovered.

Author, poet, artist and philosopher, geny is privileged to be involved with the Niagara Gallery Canada at Niagara Falls where she is described as a Renaissance woman. Her long series of interactive stories is a first in children's literature.

Many years ago, Geny trekked across South America

on her mission to help the poor. During one of her trips

to Ottawa, Canada, she met the Bolivian ambassador.

In a show of gratitude for her work, he kissed her hand

and gave her a letter with his government approval.

That valuable document opened many doors for her when, looking like a barefoot beggar, she crossed the borders around his country.

Personal Confirmation

My name is Sylvia Dickens. I met Geny (grandma geny) approximately 25 years ago when I travelled to eastern Ontario. We met at the Bed and Breakfast (Grandma's House) in Prescott which she owned at the time.

We became friends almost immediately and spent many hours sitting on her front porch sharing our life stories. We learned that we share many similar backgrounds, tastes and ideas. The moment I visited her B&B, I saw how talented she is.... the wall hangings, the large dolls, her decoratively painted milk cans, watering cans and other items. You can see more of her creations on Geny's Creations page.

And, of course, it is hard to miss her enthusiasm and zest for life.

Geny took me to her art studio in the country where she did most of her work. Her home was quaint and homey, like her B&B. I loved visiting. Her French heritage really shines through, from her decorative ideas to the meals she cooks to the welcoming atmosphere that greets all visitors.

During those 25 years, I have come to know Geny very well. She is a generous and talented person who has a very active mind, even though she is in her late 70s now (as she likes to keep reminding me).

I'm more than pleased to let you know that Geny is a trustworthy individual who cares a lot about children. I saw how she interacted with them during one of her family reunions on the family farm. Her mind is constantly overflowing with so many ideas that she can barely handle them.

You are wise to be concerned about internet safety, especially where your children are concerned. And that's why I wanted to give you this feedback on what I know of her. I assure you that at grandma geny's fun house, you can feel comfortable knowing that your children are in good hands.

Who is Sylvia Dickens and why should you trust her?

I am an award-winning journalist who is now semi-retired and living in Ontario. Several years ago, I registered to become a private investigator. My fingerprints are on file with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as required for the PI license.

Shortly after I met Geny, I worked for The Reporter, a community newspaper in Gananoque, Ontario where I won a journalism award for a major historical feature. I now spend most of my time working online, writing and marketing my own sites.

I helped Geny to create this site and will continue to assist her with this great project.
